Key Clinical Findings
Enclomiphene benefits and the limits of the research
A report published in 2016 described two randomised phase III studies in overweight men aged 18–60 with secondary hypogonadism. At 16 weeks, enclomiphene increased testosterone and maintained sperm concentrations within the normal range; the testosterone-gel group showed reduced sperm production. These results describe the studied groups and period, not a guarantee of fertility or long-term safety. Kim and colleagues, BJU International.
Higher testosterone on a blood test does not by itself demonstrate better libido, erections or other symptoms. The EMA highlighted that evidence gap in its EnCyzix assessment. EMA assessment.
How long does enclomiphene take to work?
A smaller 2013 trial observed increased testosterone within two weeks. This was a blood-test result, not a promise that energy, libido or erections would improve by day 14. Wiehle and colleagues.
